Here’s a roundup of the latest scuttlebutt from around baseball:
- Theo Epstein met with free agent Jeff Samardzija last night according to Phil Rogers of MLB.com
- Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com reports that the White Sox are open to trading Avisail Garcia. The White Sox are said to be moving forward with Trayce Thompson over Garcia.
- C.Trent Rosecrans reports the Reds are hoping to move Aroldis Chapman at this year’s winter meetings (Dec 7-10). Rosecrans reports that there is plenty of interest in Chapman (of course?) but there have yet to be any real offers on the table.
- Shelby Miller is being chased by both the Dodgers and Giants according to Buster Olney.
- The Mets are “very interested” in Ben Zobrist reports Tim Rohan of the New York Times.
- Joe Giglio asks if the Yankees are saving money this offseason in attempt to “take a run” at Bryce Harper.
- There is a no-so entertaining media back and forth over whether the Marlins would trade Jose Fernandez. Which, would be incredibly dumb and extremely Marlisny.
