Why Call to the Bullpen?

The goal of Call to the Bullpen is to act as a minor league ball club who successfully brings young writers through, improve their swing, and send them onto the big leagues. We want to help develop writers abilities and opinions rather than channel those opinions into elongated tweets and drive site traffic in order to monetise writers work. We relish the opportunity to bring in young journalists and columnists (in experience NOT age) and help them move on to some of the sports biggest and most well known sites and brands. We are all about creativity, hard work and freedom. We don’t put chains on writers, we let them explore and develop their own ideas and styles. Combined with our audience it’s the perfect spot to take that next step from your own personal blog, or that site where you feel under-appreciated or used for ‘click bait.’ CTB can not only help you build your baseball writing portfolio but also allows you the opportunity to work with our other sites UKEndZone.com and First Take UK.

What we’re looking for

Outside of the qualities stated for the individual positions. We’re looking for hardworking writers with an in-depth knowledge of the game. Those who have opinions and those who can analyze. We’re not looking for those who simply enjoy the game and have a decent knowledge level. We’re searching for those who have the ability to go on to the next level and we want to help those people get there.

If you remain interested please email calltothebullpenMLB@gmail.com with a sample of your work (if available), an original piece and answers to following.

  •          What’s your previous experience?
  •          What’s your most positive attribute?
  •          What is missing from the baseball writing world?
  •          What’s your twitter handle/social media information?

After receiving all of this information we will evaluate your application and hope to speak to all who are initially successful within a couple of days.

Thank you once again,

Oliver Connolly – Editor-In-Chief, Call to the Bullpen
